MISSING SEASON: SPRING
Last Seen: Thursday, June 20, 2013
Expected to have arrived: Thursday March 20, 2014
Description: Sunny, 65-70 degrees.
We fear "SPRING" to be in grave danger.
Suspect: Mother Nature. Assumed very moody and lacking self-control. If you have any information on the whereabouts of SPRING or Mother Nature, please contact your local Meteorologist immediately.
OK, I've been wanting to post something like that all day. I thought last Spring was tough with the snow and ice lasting into early Spring. But today is April 29th. It's cloudy, windy, rainy and the feels like temperate is coming in at 31 degrees. That, my friends, does not do much for my motivation today.
I've been waiting and hoping for a great week of sunshine so I can do a wonderful review of the baby carriers that we stock here at Natural Littles, but I just can't manage to nail down a steady few days. So I'll just do a quick run down today, of the brands we carry, and list a few advantages of each. I'll do a more detailed review of each one in the coming weeks.
1. The Baby K'Tan: This carrier looks and feels like a stretchy wrap at first glance. This carrier allows for several different positions: kangaroo, front carry, hip carry, cradle carry, back carry (with supervision) and is easy to breastfeed in. For beginner baby wearers, it is less intimidating than a stretchy wrap. The only downfall to this carrier is that it is sized and does not allow for changes to the mother's size or easy sharing. It does come in the regular cotton and the Breeze. The Breeze is a mesh material that is designed for use during warmer months and even can be used in water.

2. Snuggy Baby Wraps: Mistakenly referred to as "Moby Wraps" quite frequently, these are a stretchy wrap, that allows for a nice, close carry on an infant or child up to approximately 35lbs. The Snuggy Baby Wrap is much more supportive (for larger babies) than a typical stretchy wrap and comes in a variety of beautiful prints at the midsection. These are considered a "one size" carrier and can be adjusted to fit several body types and sizes.
3. Snuggy Baby Ring Slings: These come in 2 options, Prestige and Linen. I was not personally introduced to these carriers until my youngest was about 10 months old and well over 20lbs. I was still able to wear in him several positions with ease and comfort. Again, one size, adjustable to several body types and wonderful for use with a breastfeeding infant all the way up to toddler. The Prestige is a double layer cotton fabric, giving optimal support. The Linen carrier offers the same great features with the added advantage of being a little lighter weight for summer months and easier to adjust.
4. The lillebaby line: lillebaby is from the Soft Structure Carrier (SSC) group. These are also referred to as "backpack style" or buckle carriers. This carrier comes in Complete, Airflow and All Weather (not available online at this time). The Organic Cotton Complete is super soft cotton where the Airflow is a mesh fabric, again, designed to keep you and your Little cooler during hot summer months. But the colors and prints of the complete are absolutely worth the investment! These carriers are by far the most comfortable SSC on the market today. Allowing you to wear your baby in up to 6 different positions, one of my favorite being the hip carry or the back carry. My 28lb 13 month old spent almost an hour on my back the other day as I stood in line at a fundraiser event, both of us quite comfortable.
